This is the first blog in a series of four focused on relationships.  The four subjects are Me and My God, Me and My Family, Me and My Friends and Me and My Church.  All four are important – not to mention the importance of Me and Myself!

But, first things first…

Our relationship with God is the perfect foundation for all other relationships.  Why?  Because when a person builds a strong relationship with God two basic things happen.

First, the life and love of God flows into a person’s life.  This life and love can’t help but be seen by others.  An individual who is full of life and love will always be attractive!

Second, when a person builds a strong relationship with God, they desire to please Him more than anything else.  When we desire to please God, we will be driven to study the Bible to see how God wants us to live.  When we live like that, other relationships thrive, as well.

In John 15:1-8 Jesus describes how to build a strong with God.  The key word in this passage is “abide.”  He describes a vine as having many branches.  He uses this as an example of Him having many sons and daughters connected to Him.  Just like those physical branches receive from the vine as long as they are connected to it, we receive from Him so long as we ABIDE in Him.

What does it mean to abide in Him?

What would your life look like if you concentrated on that achievement?

What are the benefits of abiding in Christ?

What would we have to change in our lives to do this?

Consider these questions as you ponder how you can stay more connected to Christ on a daily level.
