What God Has Done For Us
We are all like Lazarus before being saved. We were dead in our trespasses and sins, bound by various attitudes, vices and relationships. We were helpless. We could not free ourselves. We had as much of a chance of walking out of our collective circumstances as Lazarus did raising himself from the dead.
But the call of Jesus made the difference!
When Jesus called Lazarus from the tomb, God did something for him (Lazarus) that he could not do for himself. The summons of a King must be answered. Death and the grave could hold him no longer! Lazarus opened his eyes and moved towards the light of an open door.
That same call was given to you and me when the Holy Spirit spoke to our hearts and said, “Come forth!”
This process is described in Romans 8:28-30. It says, "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.”
God foreknew us!
God Predestined us!
God Called us!
God justified us!
God glorified us!
Just as surely as Lazarus came out of that tomb, you and I have experienced the same invitation from Jesus to accept His love, be acquitted of all wrong doing, accept his plan for our lives and be elevated to heavenly kind of dignity, one fit for children of royal birth. This is an amazing journey!
