Enough is Enough - Why do Bad Things Happen to Good People?
JOB 1:1-12
The book of Job is a behind-the-scenes look at the common human dilemma, “Why do bad things happen to good people?” It is a dramatic poem framed in an epic story.
Sometime In prehistory, there were three archangels who each ruled over 1/3 of heaven’s angels - Michael, Gabriel and Lucifer. Lucifer rebelled against God’s authority and was banished from heaven to the earthly realm.
Meanwhile, God created a new kind of being to serve Him – humans. These beings would be lords of the earth and enforce God’s will upon earth and Lucifer, now referred to as Satan meaning “Advisory.” However, Satan tricked the first humans into disobeying God’s commandments and took control of the earth where he would be referred to as “prince of this world.”
But God was not caught off guard. He anticipated the fall of mankind and created a plan to redeem human beings and destroy the works of Satan. Since then, a war has raged against those people dedicated to God and those who are deceived in being loyal to Satan. This is where our story begins…

1. Attitude
- You have to possess a fighting spirit that says, “Enough is enough!”
2. Revelation
- We are not ignorant of the devil’s devices (II Corinthians 2:11)!”
3. Resistance
- Resist the urge to react with negative emotions and accuse God (See James 4:7)
4. Faith
- Believe the best about God – love, honor and worship Him (See Hebrews 11:1)
5. Forgiveness
- When people have done you wrong, release yourself from being chained to that person's control and the past event
Job 42:10: “And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.”
