One of the greatest and most challenging needs in life is for people to feel good about themselves. Over the last 32 years of ministry I have witnessed those who have a healthy self-image and those who don’t. Without exception, those who struggle with a poor self-image achieve little, if anything, in their Christian journey. They spend their entire lives bouncing up and down emotionally and in and out of church. On the other hand, those who have a healthy self-image based upon what the Bible says about them are able to achieve more and live happier, healthier lives.
Yes, self-image matters.
It matters to you.
And it matters to God!
Why is this important? Because behavior is born out of self-image. We all live in a manner consistent with how we see ourselves. It is therefore unlikely that you will ever do anything positive in life if you view yourself in a negative way. This is why many Christians struggle with their behavior. Low self-image is at the root of many self-destructive, sinful acts. While forgiveness is necessary for our sin, forgiveness also needs to reach deeper than any single event and begin to change the way we see ourselves. If not, a person is bound to ride the roller coaster of sin and forgiveness for the rest of their lives.
How can we change? We must do so deliberately on a daily basis. You will never change your life until you change something you do or don’t do daily. The fact is this: Your success or failure is found in your daily schedule. So begin today! Watch this video blog and you will see at least five things the Bible says about you that will help increase your self-image AND you will be given seven easy steps to improving your self-image every day.
Over time this will make a huge difference!
