The Test of Stewardship
According to the Bible, everything that you and I are and everything that we possess ultimately belong to God. While at first glance many people may baulk at such an idea, if you really think about it, it makes perfect sense. While we may work hard to achieve certain things in life, we all must confess that God was ultimately responsible for giving us the mind, body and opportunities to achieve such things. If we were honest, we would have to say that many other people in this world were not given those same opportunities. This is not meant to make us feel guilty. Rather, it is meant to make us feel grateful and responsible…
…which leads me to our subject today – STEWARDSHIP!
Stewardship is the Biblical concept that everything we have ultimately belongs to God and we are responsible to manage it. If truly comprehended and implemented, this concept frees us up to live happier, less burdened lives and gives us the ability to achieve greater things for the glory of God. Moreover, understanding stewardship puts in perspective our purpose on earth and our hope of eternal reward. Simply put, living the life of a steward makes perfect sense now and in eternity!
So grab a cup of coffee and let’s consider this subject together. In this discussion we will examine the three main areas of stewardship and where its true adherence can be tested in life. If we make this journey together, I am sure that both of us will be blessed in this life and in the life to come.
